Songs For Death

Death plays the violin

Along cobbled stone

Across winters he wails

Reaping, weeping, & cleaving

Deceiving the old & enticing the young

Till his path; blocked, & the dead come

With revenge & refute in hand

And banshee’s screech

Where wolves howl

& crow, and raven peck

Tearing into the last vulture who preys

On those, he left and those still stood

Utterly bereft
